Financial Services Firm - Corona Del Mar, CA

ZoNE-X was contracted with a Financial Services Firm in Corona Del Mar, CA to provide on-site and remote support for their IT infrastructure.  The company had 3 full-time staff members and had to stay in constant communication with its clientele located around the globe.

New Server Installation & Software

ZoNE-X determined that Small Business Server 2000 would be the best choice for the client.  It would allow them to gain collaboration tools for shared calendar and contacts, as well as allowing shared access to e-mail and Inbox for each staff member.  We also wanted to control network resources and access to shared files.  SBS 2000 also includes the remote e-mail access tool called Outlook Web Access (OWA) which allows remote workers to access their e-mail, calendar and contacts from any Internet connected computer in the world.

New Desktop Installation & Software

We explored the current market and determined that a local "clone PC vendor" would be the best choice for our desktop workstations.  All systems can pre installed with Windows 2000 Professional, as well as Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business Edition.  This allowed the staff to utilize resources for marketing, sales, and customer correspondence in a professional and easy to use interface.  Client communications increased and subsequently caused a jump in client satisfaction surveys.

Anti-Virus

For some reason the e-mail domain held by this company experienced a greater volume of SPAM than any we have seen before.  After many recommendations by ZoNE-X, management agreed that implementing a server based e-mail and anti-virus filtering tool would prove useful for the company.  We installed Anti-virus which integrated directly with their SBS 2000 and Exchange Server 5.5 server.  It immediately began working and junk e-mail volume screeched to a halt.  ZoNE-X's implementation saved the company countless hours of lost productivity by eliminating the junk mail which consumed the staff's time instead of responding to valid business-related e-mail.

We also installed anti-virus software on each desktop.  Anti-spyware tools were also installed, rounding out the security against currently known threats that could have affected their entire network.

Firewall & Security

ZoNE-X implemented a basic NAT-based firewall device to filter out the Internet-based attacks which have become so prevalent in today's technology spectrum.  We were able to add port filtering to the device in order to allow the staff to access their e-mail remotely via Outlook Web Access (OWA).  At the same time, we prevented 100% of the external attackers from gaining access to the company's precious data.  This allowed the owner's to have peace of mind in knowing that their data was safe and secure.
